Why is chrome downloading pdf versus opening it?

 · Open PDFs in Chrome. On your computer, open Chrome. At the top right, click More Settings. At the bottom, click Advanced. Under "Privacy and security," click Site settings. Near the bottom, click PDF documents. Turn off Download PDF files .  · When I try to open a web PDF file, I just get a blank/black screen. "Automatic download" is turned off already, so that is not the problem. This just started happening today for no apparent reason. If I go to another browser, the pdf file will open. If I go to incognito, it will open. Sometimes if I use Acrobat it will open. If your PDFs are downloading instead of opening automatically in Chrome, Chrome PDF viewer may have been turned off. Turn on Chrome PDF viewer. On your computer, open Chrome. Go to chrome://plugins. Under "Chrome PDF Viewer," click Enable PDF viewing. Chrome will now open PDFs automatically when you click on them.
